Mankad memes went viral and trolling over social media after Buttler’s controversial run out by Ashwin.

On 25th March night the cricket world debated after Ravichandran Ashwin the captain of Kings XI Punjab and off-spinner dismissed the batsman Jos Buttler by ‘Mankading’ him.

During the IPL 12th season match between KXIP and Rajasthan Royal, Buttler was on full form chasing 185 runs. Buttler scored 69 runs off just 43 balls and was hitting boundaries continuously. The Rajasthan Royal batsman Jos Buttler became victim of Mankading for the first time in the history of IPL.

Ashwin Mankaded and dislodged the bails on the non striker’s end without any warning. In the 13th over of the match Buttler stepped out of the crease before Ashwin delivered the ball. The third umpire declared Butler out as per the law and this made heated exchange between the Buttler and Ashwin.

What is Mankad Moment & How it Started?

Back in the year 1947-48, Vinoo Mankad- Indian opener and left-arm bowler raised a controversy during India-Australia tour. In the second test match, Vinoo paused before delivering the ball and hit the stumps of non-striker’s end. Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), clarified Mankading is not against the spirit of Cricket on Ashwin-Butler IPL controversy. Though the method doesn’t violate the laws of cricket, still considered by cricketer followers as an unsporting one that often raises objection and criticized.
