Inside Edge is an Indian web series with a combination of cricket and entertainment. It aims to capture and put light on what goes on behind the scenes in a cash-rich league. Featuring Arvind Vashist (Angad Bedi) and Niranjan Suri (Sanjay Suri) as the Mumbai Mavericks” captain and coach. The team is owned by a Bollywood actress named Zarina Malik (Richa Chadha). And the cricket federation is owned by the suave and demonic Vikrant Dhawan (Vivek Oberoi).

Vayu Raghavan (Tanuj Virwani) the main man, who almost looks like Virat Kohli-Esque player of the team. He is a bit brash, aggressive, messed-up but with a heart of gold.

Mirzapur is a typical gang war drama in which people are ready to go to any extent for securing power. Amazon Prime Video’s Mirzapur created a sharp impact after its first season and the second season is highly awaited.

Right from the first scene itself, Mirzapur attracts the reel to the real world. Featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, and Divyendu Sharma, and others. A lawless land is ruled by Akhanda Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi). 

Kaleen Bhaiya, a don in the town of Mirzapur carrying out a carpet business. Kaleen Bhaiya carries out every illegal activity imaginable like dealing in desi kattas (guns), drugs, and blackmail to name a few. As the season progresses, Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Bablu Pandit (Vikrant Massey), join Kaleen’s business activities.

The two brothers Guddu and Bablu take through crime as they lose their loved ones to Kaleen Bhaiya and his son Munna(Divyendu Sharma). Munna is very thirsty for power and wishes to take over control of his father(Kaleen Bhaiya). This doesn’t sit too well with Munna as he considers them to be an obstacle in his way of securing power.

Viewers are actually liking Divyendu’s change with his character of Munna in the Indian web series. Though Divyendu was playing an extremely negative character but it was flawless and audiences love him as Munna. 

Mirzapur has developed a huge fan following since its release in 2018. It has also spawned quite a few shows which dealt with crime lords and the violence. Finally, next month the most awaited second season of Mirzapur is going to come.

This series is set in the 1980s  Starring Nikitin Dheer and Kranti Prakash Jha in the lead roles.  The politics, the illegal businesses and the crime ring operated by two gangsters lend Raktanchal a Mirzapur vibe. Similar to Mirzapur, this series too is set in the Purvanchal area of Uttar Pradesh.

Jamtara: Sabka Number Aayega (Netflix)

Although this web series shows the story of Jamtara District in Jharkhand but gives a similar vibe of Mirzapur. The leading stars revolve around Sparsh Shrivastav, Amit Sial, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Aksha Pardasany, follows small-time criminals who are being operated by a bigger crime lord in implementing a phishing scam. 

Rangbaaz (ZEE5)

Much like Mirzapur, the show depicted crime in a gory fashion where the protagonists weren’t really the heroes of the story. This anthological ZEE5 Indian web series has had two seasons so far and the set is quite similar to Mirzapur. 

Saqib Saleem was seen in the first season, which was inspired by the life of Shri Prakash Shukla, a gangster from Gorakhpur. Whereas in the second season Jimmy Shergill plays a leading character inspired by Anandpal Singh, a gangster from Rajasthan.

Apharan (ALT Balaji)

Starring Arunoday Singh, Mahie Gill, Varun Badola, Nidhi Singh among others, Apharan is the story of a kidnapping gone wrong. The picturisation here has a very 70s Hindi film vibe to it. The nexus of police, criminals and politicians give this the same tonality as Mirzapur.
